APPLICATION FOR AN OAI GRANT

Thank you for your interest in applying for a Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative Grant. To get started:

First: Download and carefully review the Submission Guidelines.

This information is vital to the successful submission of your application and offers important guidance that can improve the chances of receiving a grant.

Next: Collect and, if necessary, scan the required documentation, including:

  • Letter of recommendation/support from a local Yamaha dealer i All applications must include an endorsement letter from a local Yamaha dealership. This letter should demonstrate the dealer’s familiarity with the applicant as well as the benefits of the project outlined in the application.
  • Documentation verifying nonprofit or tax-exempt status. i Organizations must be based in the United States and have tax exempt (e.g. 501c3, 501c7) or non-profit status. Documentation from the certifying government agency validating tax exempt or non-profit status must be provided.
  • An itemized project budget and timeline i Every grant recipient is required to provide written status reports on the progress of the project funded by the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative every six months until the completion of the project, at which time a full written summary is required.
  • Information on the riding area/opportunity (maps, photos, etc.) i The following are examples of appropriate projects for a Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative grant:
    • Trail development, restoration, and maintenance.
    • Trail signage, installation, and related equipment.
    • Staging area and facility renovations.
    • Protection of environmentally sensitive areas (e.g., fencing, bridges, hardscaping).
    • Adopt-a-Trail programs and volunteer coordination.
    • Trail mapping, GPS equipment, and map production.
    • Safety and education initiatives, including materials, signage, and events.
    • Wildlife and habitat maintenance and management.
    • Land management projects that expand recreational opportunities.
    • Projects that establish, improve, or maintain access to land for outdoor recreation.
    • Note: Grants cannot be used to purchase vehicles, and vehicles will not be donated through the program.

Important: The application cannot be saved once you begin. Be prepared to complete and submit your application.
